Humidity Control: The Piano Life Saver System
A system that humidifies...Here in Minnesota, we use a lot of heat in the home during the winter. This sucks the moisture out of your piano. This system will keep maintain the moisture that your piano needs.

...and dehumidifies. In the summer, we aren't using heat in the home anymore. Instead of the air being too dry, there is now too much moisture. This system will dehumidify the air to a healthy level of relative humidity.
|
A stable microclimate all year long!Pianos need a stable relative humidity (RH) level of about 40-45% to maintain their overall health. The Piano Life Saver System is designed to maintain a stable microclimate and protect your piano from the seasonal changes in relative humidity.

How It Works
The Piano Life Saver continuously monitors the humidity inside your piano and gently dries and humidifies to maintain a stable environment.
Your piano will stay in tune longer,
and your piano itself will last longer.
Tuning Considerations
The humid environment in the summer causes the wood soundboard to swell and puts tension on the piano strings, causing the piano's pitch to go sharp. The opposite happens in the winter--the soundboard loses moisture and shrinks, putting less tension on the strings, and the piano's pitch goes flat. With the Piano Life Saver, a stable microclimate keeps the moisture content in the wood stable year-round, keeping the piano's pitch stable. Your piano will stay in tune longer, and though annual tunings will still be necessary, the pitch of the piano will be stable, eliminating the need for pitch corrections before tunings.
Piano Lifespan Considerations
Humidity changes aren't only hard on the piano's tuning stability; they're also hard on the piano itself. The Piano Life Saver will protect your piano's different parts:

Piano Lifespan Considerations
Humidity changes aren't only hard on the piano's tuning stability; they're also hard on the piano itself. The Piano Life Saver will protect your piano's different parts:
- Wood: Your piano is made of wood, and unstable humidity levels cause wood to crack and warp. It is common for me to see cracked soundboards in pianos. I have personally repaired warping or twisting wood issues in piano keys. Most piano actions have all their parts made of wood, too, and the swelling causes sticking keys in periods of high humidity. The Piano Life Saver keeps the moisture content stable year-round.
- Felt: The felt in your piano's action gets tight around metal parts and is a major cause of sticking keys.
- Metal: Rust and corrosion on the metal parts inside your piano are very harmful to the piano's long-term health. Metal parts that the Piano Life Saver protects include tuning pins, strings, action parts, and more.
